What is a fair price for monthly local SEO?
Hiring & Budget — answered straight, by an operator who builds these systems rather than an agency selling them.
For a single-location service business, common market rates run roughly $500–2,500 a month depending on competition and scope. Below a few hundred dollars, the math only works if the work is automated or offshore. Above that range, the deliverables should be specific and substantial.
The longer version
Judge the quote by what ships, not the number. A month should produce identifiable work: pages published, profile updates, citation fixes, links earned, technical issues resolved. "Ongoing optimization" as a line item is not a deliverable.
The other half of the answer is your own economics. If a booked job is worth $8,000 in profit, $2,000 a month for two extra jobs is trivially worth it. If jobs are $400, the same spend needs a very different volume to make sense — run the arithmetic before comparing prices.
