How much does a contractor website cost?

Websites — answered straight, by an operator who builds these systems rather than an agency selling them.

Short answer

DIY builders run roughly $20–50 a month. Freelancers typically charge $2,000–8,000 for a custom build. Agencies commonly quote $8,000–30,000, and many local agencies sell $300–1,500 monthly plans where you never own the site. What matters more than the number is whether the site is built to rank and whether you own it.

The longer version

The expensive failure mode is a beautiful five-page site with no service pages, no city pages, and no structured data. It photographs well and ranks for your business name — which you already had. Coverage and structure are what produce calls.

Ask three questions before paying anyone: do I own the domain, code, and content outright; how many pages does this include and what are they about; and what happens to the site if I stop paying. Any hesitation on the third question tells you what the arrangement really is.

Let's build something real.
