What schema markup does a service business website need?

AI & Answer Engines — answered straight, by an operator who builds these systems rather than an agency selling them.

Short answer

At minimum: LocalBusiness (or a more specific type like Plumber or RoofingContractor) with your name, phone, address or service area, and hours; Service markup on each service page; FAQPage on pages with real questions; and BreadcrumbList for structure. Add AggregateRating only if the reviews are genuinely yours.

The longer version

Schema does not make you rank. It makes you legible — it tells search and answer engines exactly what a page is about rather than leaving them to infer it from prose. For a business with dozens of service and city pages, that difference compounds.

The most common mistake is marking up things that are not true: review counts pulled from nowhere, hours that do not match the Google profile, an address for a business that has no public storefront. Structured data that conflicts with reality is worse than no structured data, because it teaches the engine to distrust the source.

Let's build something real.
