What is missed call text back?
Calls & Answering — answered straight, by an operator who builds these systems rather than an agency selling them.
An automation that sends an immediate text to anyone whose call you did not answer — typically "Sorry we missed you, this is [business], what can we help with?" It converts dead calls into text conversations, and it is one of the cheapest fixes in a service business.
The longer version
It works because of timing. A caller who has just dialed you is still in the moment; sixty seconds later they are dialing someone else. A text arriving inside that window frequently restarts the conversation on a channel people answer faster than the phone.
Two rules keep it effective. Send it within seconds, not minutes — a delayed apology text is worse than none. And make sure a human or an AI actually replies to the responses, because an automated opener followed by silence is a worse impression than the missed call was.
